Idea Fair
Gingerbread Project
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
What brings an entire community of private clubs together better than a common cause greater than the whole! Since 2008, our COO, Thomas Preuml, CCM, CCE, has been creating gingerbread houses at the Club to donate to the M.D. Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital. Our community outreach for The Gingerbread Project has increased by leaps and bounds, now drawing support from across the entire Houston private club community.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Joining HRC’s efforts, several notable Houston private clubs established their own respective gingerbread creations. The combined efforts and coordination between the Club Managers and Executive Chefs at participating clubs have created a jovial camaraderie within the group, not only strengthening their relationships but also encouraging one another as they offer their gifts and talents to the benefit of a higher calling. To date, over $580K has been raised from donations towards MD Anderson’s Child Life Program. The Houston Racquet Club membership eagerly anticipates the annual display of the gingerbread house, fostering a stronger sense of community within the Club.
