Creating Community with Group Exercise!
Description
By creating a memorable experience in group exercise—through themed decorations, dress-up days, and social events—we have built a thriving program that draws members to the club on a regular basis and also makes a profit for the club in its own right. Members become more involved with each other, reach out to one another if they miss class, and become advocates for our classes within the club.
Implementation
- Members love to see that the staff cares about their experience, and one way to demonstrate that is to regularly update the studio with seasonal- or holiday-themed decorations
- From time to time, members are encouraged to dress up in themed workout apparel, and sometimes they even create an event themselves!
- Some of our classes have social events, such as a holiday “white elephant” dinner, to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company.
- For some members, group exercise is the main activity they participate in at the club, so keeping them engaged may mean keeping them on the active rolls! This can be especially true for older members, who may no longer participate in golf or tennis, but still find value and comradery through group exercise.
