Idea Fair
Healthy Life Project
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The HLP is a 12 Week Transformational Program created by Fitness & Pools Director, Blake Stovall. The program was built on the premise of “Keeping It Simple” and is based on three primary components: Cardiovascular training, Strength training, and simple, easy to understand nutrition. The goal of the Healthy Life Project is to teach a simple, easy to understand approach that creates a healthier lifestyle that can be maintained long term.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Members are paired with a certified personal trainer who provides constant guidance and feedback, in addition to, 1-on-1 training sessions throughout the 12 week program. The members must sign a friendly contract verifying that they will commit to all aspects of the program, determine realistic goals that focus on mind and body transformations, and have an initial health screening done by their doctor. From there, an initial date is set for “before” pictures and body measurements that consist of body fat percentage, body circumference, and body weight. The process is repeated every four weeks throughout the program to benchmark improvement and make necessary adjustments. Upon completion of the program, the member takes “after” pictures and final measurements. The program has been a great success for those who have gone through the 12 weeks. HRC has even collaborated with our food and beverage department to develop a Healthy Life Project approved menu so our members can have assurance of healthy food options when dining at the club.
