Hit for Prizes
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Our tennis pros host an annual complimentary “Hit for Prizes” event for our junior tennis players. During this event we showcase our junior programs along with sign up information for the upcoming season. We have our top players from each age group demonstrate their skills attained from our tennis programs.During this informational part of the event our head pro speaks to the parents about what our program offers and benefits to taking tennis lessons as a group and the details of signing up. This event has become a great success in recruiting younger children (ages 5 +) to sign up and it is a fun event for all! “Hit for Prizes” is put together with help from our vendors who donate all the prizes. This event provides another great reason for our members to come out and enjoy their club.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
This event is free, easy to set up, fun for the kids, and informative for the parents. All prizes are donated from our vendors and set up the day of the event on multiple tennis courts. The courts are set up with the prizes on one side and on the other side a couple of tennis pros or mini ball machines set up to feed the kids balls who will attempt to hit the targets(prizes). The prizes include junior racquets, water bottles, giant tennis balls, sunglasses, mini speakers, and many other fun prizes. Before releasing the children to the assigned tennis courts we have a brief exhibition with our top program players from each age group starting at age 5 and up. During this event our head pro speaks to the parents about our programs and answers any questions the parents may have. After the brief informational session we dismiss the kids to their assigned courts were they participate in the event. This event has become very popular and is anticipated by both our juniors and the parents. The Kids always have a blast and the parents love that the kids look forward to coming out to enjoy the event. "Hit for Prizes" has been a hit for our members and their families.
