Idea Fair
Holiday Gift Wrapping
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The holiday season is so full of 'things to get done' that many of our members don't have time to visit the club as often as we would like. As a way to help and to bring members to the club, we offer free gift wrapping services while members dine during the month of December. Not only has this service been joyfully received it has also increased lunch participation for the month of December. Last year, total lunch covers were 336 in October, 580 in November, and 449 in January. December is a distinct outlier with 970 covers.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
From Thanksgiving to Christmas, we take the stress of wrapping gifts off of our members by offering the service free of charge during lunch. We set up the wrapping station in a 'coat room', typically a seldom used space, near the dining room where members can drop off and pick up their wrapped gifts. Our Clubhouse main dining room experiences the greatest deficit in participation at a la carte lunch service. Providing complimentary gift wrapping gives the members an incentive to dine with us at lunch during the holiday season.
