Idea Fair
Hollywood Golf Club Mystery Dinner
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
This idea came from our GM Salil Bokil along with the F&B team and is a private dinner experience. We send out just the date and time of the event while withholding the location and menu. This gives a mystery element to our event, while building anticipation with our membership as to where and what the event is going to be. This enhances our operation because it becomes a full-on collaboration with members of our F&B team. Ideas for food, drink, decor and location are all shared and worked on with all members of our team and has become a true focal point of the season for our membership, while also showing our strength as a team as to what we can present to our membership and give the confidence to our team that we can pull of these type of events and be hungry to do more and more.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
This event has completely taken a new life, now in its second year. Our first year we held it on the golf course, on our 10th tee, outside of our newly refurbished Halfway House. This location gave us the ability to create a Napa Valley Style Vineyard aesthetic along with a boisterous sunset as the membership was seated for dinner. We had limited the participants to 30 members. After the overwhelming success of the first event, there was a clamoring from the membership to extend the capacity number to 40. In our second year our reservation space was full within 3 minutes of sign-ups going out to the membership with another 14 members on the waiting list. This year we were able to convert our "Cart Barn" space into a beautiful private dining experience. We had a portable bar, a full wine tasting and presentation and live acoustic music. This all accompanied a 5-course menu provided by our Executive Chef and his team. The reaction from our membership has been greater than we could have imagined. The "buzz" around this event is palpable to the point where we have members looking to sign up for next years while attending the event.
