Honoring Our Veterans

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Baltimore Country Club is honored to have many members and staff who have served or are serving in the military. In celebration of Veterans Day (November 11, 2024), we wanted to recognize and express our gratitude for their service to our country. We planned to highlight this in a special feature for the November edition of Lifestyle, our monthly membership magazine. Members and staff would submit details of their own or their family members’ time in service, sharing stories of major deployments, cherished photographs, and the medals and awards earned through their dedication.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Our Communications Team created two avenues for members and staff to submit details about their military service: an online form and a physical form available for those who preferred to submit in person at the front desk at our Five Farms clubhouse. The forms requested the following information: branch of service, rank at time of discharge, years of service, locations/deployments, units/divisions, military honors/awards, and a photo in uniform.
To encourage participation, we communicated with BCC members through emails to members and staff and in publications of Lifestyle and our staff monthly digital newsletter, Park & Farms. We had contributions from 36 members and three staff members who were featured. The response from our members was overwhelmingly positive. Many featured members requested print copies of the magazine, leading us to order additional copies from our printer. With permission, we shared some of the submitted photos on social media on Veterans Day, further highlighting their service and dedication.
