Idea Fair
Huskers Kickoff Tailgate
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
If there is one thing all Nebraskans have in common, it is our love for ‘Husker Football! (It’s safe to say that it is an obsession for many.) The second love... Tailgating. This past year, we held a Husker tailgate at the club the night before a huge game. It was complete with a raffle for Husker memorabilia, great drinks, and delicious tailgate food. To enhance the experience for our members, we had Nebraska’s famous Tommy Frazier cook his homemade chicken wings. Tommy Frazier is a college football back-to-back National Champion. He is touted as the best college football player to ever play the game. This event became an enormous success as well as a memorable event!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Champions Run has a lot of former Husker players who are members. When we decided to host a tailgate, we also wanted to gather a few memorabilia to be raffled. Thankfully, many of the former athletes were happy to sign the items for us. Bringing his supplies for his famous chicken wings, Tommy Frazier set up shop on our patio off our dining rooms. In a couple of the rooms, we set up large screens and projects replaying our National Championship games from ‘94 and ‘95. The members loved it! Not only was it a different environment for club dining, but they got to celebrate what every Husker fan loves the most all evening long.
