Idea Fair
If These Walls Could Talk
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
In April, as we started to ramp up excitement for the upcoming season, RCC hosted Art Appraiser, Andrew Holter, to come analyze and educate the members on the art around the property. Members enjoyed complimentary champagne as they traveled from room to room learning about the art that they walk by daily including paintings, furniture, sculptures, trophies and more. Holter, of Nye & Company, has recently served as both an auctioneer and VP, Head of Department of the American Furniture & Decorative Arts Department at Christie’s, New York. Additionally, Andrew is a featured appraiser on the PBS television program, Antiques Roadshow for over a decade appraising furniture or folk art.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We limited this event to 50 members, and quickly filled every spot. The members enjoyed the more intimate experience where there was an opportunity for Q&A as well as closely analyzing the pieces themselves. The entire 90-minute presentation was captured and edited into a digestible video recap which now lives on our website for all members to view if they missed out on the evening. We have seen a huge increase in the appreciation for our Clubhouse and it’s prized possessions since Mr. Holter has shed light on the rich history within our walls.
