Idea Fair
Iron Gate
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
An opportunity for our club and mainly staff to give back to the community in need.
Throughout the year we take many donations such as blankets, gloves socks, chap stick cereal bottled water, whatever else Iron gate is currently in need of. The club matches all donations provided by the staff. Also 2 times a year the club provides breakfast and lunch to some 400 individuals in need at the Iron gate facility.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Our Executive Chef, Johnathan Moosemiller CMC, has always had a giving side. He was involved with Iron gate previously and has sense gotten the club as a whole involved. Staff sign up to volunteer for the morning, afternoon or both. Many individuals choose to do both. The day begins at 5am, when the culinary team comes to SHCC to cook and prepare all the food. It is then transported to the Iron Gate building in downtown Tulsa, where staff and management feed up to 400 people for breakfast and lunch. Several members are involved with community outreach, as well as Iron Gate specifically. Iron gate, as well as our members send each staff member that volunteers their time, a letter thanking them for their hard work and contribution. In the eyes of our members, it is community outreach like this at the hands of our staff, that make the Southern Hills experience even better.
