Idea Fair
Junior Golf Academy Powered by Operation 36
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
In order to provide long-term development in the game of golf, Greensboro Country Club has developed a Junior Golf Academy that has piqued the interest of juniors throughout the Club. One of only 360 facilities in the world, our Golf Academy is powered by Operation 36® - a program that teaches the game of golf starting from the green instead of the tee.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The goal is to shoot even par (36) for nine holes, first from 25 yards and then moving back as they improve. The Operation 36® framework consists of coaching, playing and training programs. By working from green to tee-box versus the traditional tee-box to green it lowers the challenge point, and is a motivating way to learn and progress in the sport. Each golfer is issued a profile in the Operation 36® Mobile App to track progress through a six-level curriculum that is designed to set appropriate objectives and challenge each student towards shooting par of 36 for 9 holes. You can find more information about Operation 36® at www.operation36.golf.
By creating an environment that is fun, customized for the GCC member and geared toward PLAY, GCC’s Junior Golf Academy has grown from 18 players to 76 players. Parents are even involved as caddies for the Junior Golf Academy participants. This program has increased revenue for the Club, increased golf professionals’ lesson income, and most importantly, added tremendous value for members and more junior golfers! Additionally, GCC has started a Ladies Academy powered by Operation 36® that is becoming popular - even during the off-season!
