Kids' Meals Houston

Description

Our Senior Staff is blessed to have our jobs at Houston Racquet Club and felt we needed to reach out and volunteer more in the community. Few charities offer such a positive experience as Kids Meals Houston. It's a great charity, great people and amazing cause. it doesn't enhance our club operations, but it sure feels good and reminds the staff how fortunate we really are.

Implementation

Each year we have adopted a family that is undergoing treatment at MD Anderson Hospital and brought hot food, gifts and even a washer to them! However, this year, we heard about the large number of children that are not in the school system, and lack access to free meal programs that are at home with families that lack a car to get to a store (stores are not close) or lack money to buy food. With the help of one of our members, we were asked to help with making sack lunches for children. Kids Meals Houston delivers 3000 sack lunches daily to children in 22 zip codes around the Houston area. During the summer the number of children goes up to 5000.
