Idea Fair
Making a List, Checking it Twice
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Historically, our Club used to open registration for holiday events 90 days out; which proved hard for members to keep track of and remember to register on time, often missing out on the more popular events.
To combat this, our Communications team devised a way to better promote and market the registration process – introducing a new Holiday Event Registration Week.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
A holiday guide is sent in advance of the Registration Week detailing when each event’s reservations will open. This is created as a PDF so members can download the document and save it in an easy-to-access location. During the Holiday Event Registration Week, a daily email is sent alerting members to the events that are opening the following day. This gives members ample time to get ready to register for the events of their choice.
We strategically selected events to open on specific days so similar events with are not competing against each other – for instance, popular family events don’t open on the same day so the member has time to decide which event their family would like to attend. This also reduces stress on our reservation system by potentially lowering the number of members accessing the site at the same time.
Plan ahead – set a week, map out event openings, then advertise it in a fun or creative way. Make sure staff is aware of the opening schedule and are ready to help members if any issues or question arise.
