Idea Fair
Mascot Races
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
It’s a hot, sunny day in June when our 4 mascots walk onto the pool deck and sit down by a colored flag. As to be expected, our members are confused as to what is about to happen. We call for volunteers and 4 lucky kids are in for a treat. Mascot races are a spur-of-the-moment event where each mascot has to race from the splash park to the bar, grab a slushie, run it back to the chosen volunteer, then run back to the bar to grab a pie, and the first to run back to the kid and pie them in the face is the winner - FOR EVERYONE WHO CHOSE THAT MASCOT TO WIN! This is a high intensity, loud race where the whole pool deck cheers for each team.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
No one except the mascots know when this event will take place. Our members are excited by the action and love to participate in our shenanigans. Also, the kids at the pool are dying to be a part of the fun because they get a free slushee and get pie’d in the face. Virtually no planning is required for this to take place, but a little whipped cream is a necessity.
