Idea Fair
MIT Program
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Fiddler's MIT program has been created to further develop young managers in the Private Club Industry. The competencies described in the program are the same competencies used in the BMI sessions for CMAA. We took the main points from the BMI's, along with any slideshow or power point from educational sessions, and created our own Manager in Training Program. The program will take an individual about three years to complete. After completion the individual will be horned with a certificate and graduation plaque. There is no particular order to finish each section, however all sections must be completed before finishing the program. The program is set up in a way where succession is a complete reflection on the individual. The ones that have passed are now F&B managers with a promising career in the Private Club Industry.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The manager in training program was implemented out of the need to grow and mentor our lead servers & junior managers. The investment in our team resulted in more staff engagement, member satisfaction and overall a better staff culture within our club. With the engaged culture and a mindset of success, our employee retention improved as well. Members are delighted to see us investing in our team and always follow up to see what level each teammate accomplished. Members specifically get excited when we move an MIT manager from one dining outlet to another. The engagement of members and upper management, push all teammates to be the best version of themselves.
