Idea Fair
New member? No problem!
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
With 7,900 members, CCV can feel like a big place. So, giving our newbies the inside scoop helps them feel right at home, right away!
By giving your new members an intimate onboarding experience and sharing “tips and tricks,” you avoid new members feeling “lost” in their Club environment. New members can immediately become engaged in Club correspondence, know where to direct questions, and can connect with other new members who may want to explore Club activities and amenities together.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We hold group onboarding meetings within the first few days of a new member’s election so they can connect with other new faces. Together, we talk through documents that will outline rules and expectations, as well as ones that are required for their accounts. We also navigate the website together so that the Membership Director can explain any nuances of signing up for events, tee times, and court/dining reservations. Finally, we provide our new members with a New Member Manual that includes some tips and “did you knows” (ex: Stella is on tap for $2 in Ollies, there is private riverfront access available to Club members, etc.)
There is not a single new member who leaves the onboarding meeting without saying how helpful it is and how excited they are to get involved. Our Membership Director often gets a few follow-up questions, but for the most part, our new members are confident and get involved within the first week of membership.
