Idea Fair
New Member Orientation Tours
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
While New Member tours are not exactly a new Idea in the Club Business the way that Belle Meade Country Club does it is special. The New Member tour at BMCC has been designed to be the primary orientation for all new members. The tours are hosted by the Club's General Manager and typically take about one and a half hours to complete. Not only to they get to tour ALL club facilities, including an extensive Back of the House tour, our New Members get to hear about the rich history and culture of BMCC, and they hear about the "few" pertinent club rules in a relaxed setting. Everything is scripted to feel unscripted. Along the way the department heads are introduced and each give a brief overview of their areas of responsibility. The tour ends up in our former Boiler Coal Housing that is the current home for our liquor storage, where we pour a nice glass of champagne to the new members.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Scripted but Unscripted nature of the New Member tours are a great way to get the sometimes boring information to the new members in an interesting setting. The Members have reported that they love the tours and additional information. Anything we can do to make them feel they are a part of the fabric of the club as soon as possible is a big plus.
