Idea Fair
On Board for New Hires
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Kansas City Country Club hires nearly 100 new staff members in a matter of days to fill summer seasonal positions. The process for hiring managers has been lengthy, time consuming, and subject to mistakes. To address these issues, The Kansas City Country Club implemented an on-boarding program to help streamline the process.
The on-boarding program has been extremely well-received with the following goals having been reached:
- Accelerated processing into our HR and Payroll system
- Reduce high turn-over and related costs
- Improve employee efficiency and productivity
- Enhance employee engagement
- Encourage improved manager and employee communication
- Improve accuracy and timeliness of completing new hire forms
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
A new hire “kiosk” was put together to assist in the process of on-boarding.
Each new hire is introduced to the HR/Payroll Administrator along with other key employees who will be involved in his/her training and development. Individuals have additional time to spend with Human Resources to ask questions, clarify polices and procedures, and become more acquainted with their new employer.
The new-hires appreciate the extra attention during the orientation process and managers appreciate the time saved in getting employees started in their new roles.
