Operation Colleton River

Description

Operation Colleton River, formerly Operation Santa Claus, was first incepted by a group of extremely generous and caring members that wanted a way to give back to the local community. What they thought would be a small group quickly turned into participation of nearly the entire Colleton River family. Operation Colleton River has not only enhanced the feeling of community within the gates of Colleton River but has reached out far across the Lowcountry.

Implementation

Operation Colleton River fundraising begins each year in the fall. Originally an initiative for making Christmas special for areas of the Lowcountry in need, it now also has a year-round component supporting children in need throughout the year. Following the contribution period, members divide and conquer by splitting into groups for present shopping, gift wrapping, organizing presents for the assigned families in need, and delivering the presents to the families on the week of Christmas. Throughout the remainder of the year the initiative helps eight Bluffton schools with uniforms, shoes, jackets and school supplies; and helps to fund nutritional and books programs. Operation Colleton River is the essence of the Colleton River community and strongly represents the quality of our heartfelt members.
