Ordering System Crash Kit
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We designed a crash cart to serve as a one-stop-shop to temporarily continue service during power outages or during the loss of our computer systems. The kit includes all essential items to run our operation - 3-ply hand written tickets, plenty of pens, contact information for the IT Director and Restaurant Managers, and power out menus. The crash cart gives our register attendants a clear course of action in case of system malfunction. In stressful situations, like a power outage or computer issue, they simply follow the step-by-step standard operating procedure outlined in each employees training manual.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
By adding this system to our training manual, each employee has already been coached on how to respond to loss of computer access. We have seen the success during a partial power outage in our outlet. Members were calmly asked to wait just a few moments while the crash cart was retrieved. Register attendants were then able to take each order by hand and continue providing excellent service with a smile! Our members were grateful, not only to still be served in an unusual and challenging circumstance, but also because we anticipated the issue and took control.
