Out of Darkness and into the Light

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

When working in the early morning hours before the sun rises, it is difficult to see. To help us be more efficient and thorough when using backpack blowers during this time, we taped a small LED flashlight to the end of all of our backpack blower nozzles. This allows us to make sure the playing surface is clear of debris before we mow the grass, and allows us to see what might need to be blown once we are finished mowing.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

This idea was implemented from many hours spent in the dark during the professional golf tournament we have hosted for the past 9 years. Before we put the lights on the blowers, we would miss debris which could damage the turf when mowing, and we were spending a lot of time sending team members back to blow the same areas again because of missed debris. The members seem to be happy because we are able to stay out in front of play on those dark mornings, and the tournament has continuously gotten better.
