Idea Fair
Passage to India
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The theme of this season's Opening Party in November to welcome returning members was PASSAGE TO INDIA. Our welcome back parties have become hallmark events and each year we work to top last year's party. These fabulous parties, which take place throughout the entire Clubhouse in various rooms, set the tone for an exciting season for all members. The anticipation is high among members who start asking about the theme during the summer months (when most of our members are at their alternate addresses). Each year this party kicks-off an active social season at Addison Reserve!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Our Season Opening Party, “Passage to India” transported Members across continents. Greeted by the strains of sitar music, a snake handler and a curious monkey, guests stepped into the lobby of romantic draping of purples, oranges, golds, and fuchsia. Harem-like futons were found throughout the various rooms, woven between large potted palms. The décor, reminiscent of lavish Indian palaces, provided the backdrop for the event in numbers of rooms throughout the clubhouse. The elaborate feast of traditional items as well as country-specific items filled the lushly decorated tables. The staff were dressed in Indian attire and in addition to the entertainment by the band for dancing, there was a lively belly dancer exhibition. Many Members joined in the fun!
