Idea Fair
Photography Camp
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
At Champions Run we offer a movie camp, art camp, cheer camp… We just didn’t have a photography camp, so we thought why not offer one? We had a professional photographer come in and teach a four-week camp for kids who had an interest in the art. At the end of the camp, we held a gallery expo for the kids to display some of their favorite pictures. We provided complimentary hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and sparkling grape juice for the kids. It was one of the best kids’ galas held at Champions Run! The kids and the parents were delighted!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Implementation was a breeze. Contracting with a professional photographer was quite simple, because we had one who also happened to be a staff member at the club! Kids could either bring their own camera or borrow one of ours. Each class size was kept to a maximum of eight kids in order to provide a lot of hands on instruction! They did a few off-site photography trips and helped set the gallery. The camp was a hit, with everyone learning something new and having a great time!
