Idea Fair
Pool Silent Disco
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Imagine seeing a whole group of people, aged 5 to 75, dancing and singing in silence. Each Friday in the summer, we host Aloha Friday at our pool. We bring in local bands, well-known duelling piano players, or simply set out silent disco headphones, and our members always show up for the fun. As soon as the sun begins to set, that is when the party begins. Each person receives a headphone set that is equipped with 3 stations: green, blue, and red. Participants can choose the music they listen to by switching between colors. The fun lies in seeing what color your friends and family are jamming to. But, if you choose not to participate, you get to hear a multitude of people singing their heart out to different genres of music. This may be our members’ favorite Aloha Friday activity because it’s unlike anything they have done before.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
As long as the headphones are charged and staff members are willing to DJ, this event can happen practically anytime or anywhere. We like to give members a heads-up on social media because this is one that is well attended, and sometimes we don’t even have enough headphones to share. There really is nothing better than enjoying good music with friends and family on a warm summer evening.
