Introducing "Pram Jam" at Our Winter Clubhouse

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Pram Jam allows children to start sailing early in a fun & safe environment with a small boat in an indoor pool. With their parents in the water and wind powered by fans, our youngest members can experience the sport of sailing without the fear of open water. They gain confidence for when they're old enough for other youth programs and gives parents a chance to participate in their introduction to the sport.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Many parents wished to expose their younger children to sailing earlier than age seven - the year they can start at our summer camp Junior Club. We brought a small sailboat from our island facility to our winter clubhouse as a trial to get members involved in the off-season. This was an easy transition using our existing resources and had members from different areas of the club coming together to learn and have fun. With the success of this program, we are now moving this to our island pool to enjoy Pram Jam throughout the summer and engage even more eager young sailors.
