Idea Fair
QR Code Invitations
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Every summer, BHYC sends out a variety of formal paper invitations to the membership for some of the larger events. With the launch of a new website and with this year’s volume of events, we wanted to make it easier for our members to register and revisit the information at their convenience. To do that, we incorporated QR codes into the invitation packet.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The QR codes were compiled onto one page that accompanied the rest of the event invitations. Having QR codes on a single sheet made for a convenient registration process for the member. Instead of navigating through the website, a simple scan with their smartphone camera directed you straight to the event registration. It also allowed the member to revisit that event registration page if they needed a reminder of event details or needed to adjust their reservation.
QR codes not only add convenience for the membership but brings the Club up to date with today’s technology. The majority of our web users access the site through their phones, so giving them this technology opportunity is important. Members who received the invitations gave great feedback on the QR codes. In addition, the website saw a 32% increase in website usage in the week following the invitation mailings, and each of the events promoted through this QR code method were sold out.
BHYC plans on using QR codes on their flyers going forward, This way, members can gain quicker access to event information when they see something that catches their eye on the bulletin board.
