Idea Fair
Reward - Wanted! For Good Behavior
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Help encourage Junior members to replace negative behaviors with positive ones by using positive reinforcement at your club. When kids receive positive feedback for desirable behaviors, they ultimately gravitate towards those opposed to negative behaviors previously displayed.
A group of managers at our Club started a program empowering staff to reward junior members in the moment with a small treat or reward - a special thank you when junior members are “caught in the act” of going above and beyond or showing exceptional character.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We trained staff to use their discretion and reward positive behaviors by Junior members with gift certificates for a small treat and a special charging account to use in the moment as needed.
Junior members are grateful and delighted when awarded a treat, and the program hopes to let Junior members set examples for one another and create a positive environment in which they feel validated. Parents have noticed and praised staff for taking the time to recognize good behavior.
