Idea Fair

Roaming Bites

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

When a traditional action station didn't fit the event layout and when a chef preferred to provide a more personal experience, our culinary team got creative. Our chefs crafted wearable action stations so that they could roam the event rather than waiting for Members to file through a buffet line. Both the Oyster Shuckin' Sling and the Cannoli Caddy were custom-built by our chefs using various materials, including: heavy duty belt suspenders, a full body tool belt, 5 gallon buckets, and a repurposed wine box.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The Oyerster Shuckin' Sling was created for our annual Holiday Open House which is an adults-only event with an upscale strolling dinner. Introducing the roaming action station allowed members to continue mingling while Chef Vinnie shucked fresh oysters tableside. It also allowed Chef Vinnie to showoff his oyster shucking skills! The Cannoli Caddy was introduced at our Lighting of the Tree ceremony to kickoff the holiday season. This event is attended by families with young children, so in an effort to keep the kids entertained and seated before the tree lighting, our Pastry Chef, Andi, created the Cannoli Caddy with an assortment of toppings for dipping. Chef Meili wore the Cannoli Caddy and strolled around the dining room filling and dipping cannolis. These interactions with our culinary team provides an elevated, more personalized experience that our Members have come to love.
