Idea Fair
Ross Run
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
During this crazy 2020, everyone had to think of different ways to engage membership with a lot of outside activities because of restrictions. We decided to hold our take on a run and held a 2k (actually a 1.898 after our year we were founded 1898) and also have a shorter run for our mini-members! We named it after Donald Ross since he designed our golf course, had activities, food and drink, campfires, music and more afterwards! One of our members also got involved and created medals to hand out to those that completed the race! We took part of the entry fee and donated it to the Tree of Hope in the Pittsburgh area (which provides toys and winter essentials to children and families in need during the Holidays)!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The members and mini-members loved it all! After the Donald Dash (race for the kids), while the parents were running their race, the kids made signs for their parents and held them all up in support at the finish line! Members want us to expand the race next year! We are excited when members take ideas we have and really get behind them to make them bigger and better the next time!
