Idea Fair
Santa's Gingerbread House Brunch
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
With cold Michigan winters, making the most of indoor activities is crucial. What was once a simple brunch with a Santa visit has turned into a must-attend event. Over the years we have added two dates to accommodate the entire membership and their guests. In 2022, we hosted 700+ members and guests across both brunches. At this event, we host a holiday-inspired brunch buffet, one-on-one experiences with Santa (accompanied by a professional photographer), a "Letters to Santa" station, and live-reindeer (Sven & Rudy) from a local reindeer farm. To top off these experiences, we partner with a local culinary institute (KCTC of Grand Rapids) to bake and build more than 250 gingerbread houses. Our pastry chefs curate an array of holiday candies for members and their guests to decorate their gingerbread houses with.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
This idea continues to grow with the help of both staff and member feedback and support. Our staff from all departments have a hand in the implementation of this event from the planning to the execution. With the expansion of this event, we have also had the pleasure and opportunity to create relationships with local small businesses & vendors. This past year included a redesign of the event layout to cater to larger crowds. Our membership continues to rave about this event and seating times reach capacity at record rates. Members are eager to invite guests to show-off the Club’s amenities and holiday spirit at this family-oriented social event.
