Senior Member-Guest - The Stanley Cup

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

With each passing year, the popularity of The Kansas City Country Club Men’s Member-Guest Invitational has continued to grow. We sell out the available spots in our field in a matter of minutes once registration opens.

The event field has been trending younger due to the physical demands of a three day event and 60+ holes of golf. With limitations on field size, many of our more veteran members are left without a member-guest tournament opportunity.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

This need led us to create a member-guest event for our 50 year-old (plus) membership category that provided the same showcase event for their home Club they have been accustomed to. Long time Club Professional, Stanley Thirsk, taught many of our members in the 50 plus age category the game of golf and was a beloved figure among the membership for decades. After his passing, it was only natural Stanley would be the namesake for our new event.

The ‘Stanley Cup’ is a similar format to the traditional Men’s Invitational, but paired down to two days, offering many of the same amenities and benefits. To our delight, the field for this event has been sold out both years since its introduction. The feedback from the membership has been fantastic and our golf operations are able to enhance the programming offerings for many of our member families.
