How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The beer is delivered straight from the brewery and gets dropped of monthly. It is made the same moth it is dropped off. We dictate the amount need so it has tremendously cut down on expired beer. The beer has taken over as the #1 and #3 beer sold in the club. It represents just under fifty percent of all beer sales. The brewery will store the cans at their location until we order which has also created more space in our Liquor/beer storage room.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We contacted the brewery and proposed the idea. We next tasted and created four samples that we believe fit the flavor profile of the club. We brought the samples in on a Friday and did a club wide taste and member vote. The beer with the most votes won. This became our permeant year round beer "premier". The seasonal beer is on a four month rotation and will be a new beer every time, which we named our "select". We designed a can with our logo but still true to the brewery. They brew, can, and print the labels there. Because it is a malt beverage it falls under the retail wine license. We sell on average forty cases a month in just retail. The members love having their beer, with their logo on it. They will always show their guests and ask them "Does your club have it's own beer?" This has also generated a lot of traffic in the brewery with members going and taking guests to see where their beer come from.
