Spirit of Mangawhai Charity Golf Tournament

Description

Each year Tara Iti Golf Club invites 20-30 local charitable organisations and clubs to participate in their annual “Spirit of Mangawhai Charity Golf Tournament” and over the past 3 years this has raised over $300,000. Tara Iti Golf Club facilitates the event by providing the public an opportunity to play a round of golf at our exclusive private club. The event is for our friends, neighbour’s, community leaders and business associates to enjoy the course while financially supporting a local charity of their choice.

This unique tournament has enabled Tara Iti to positively make a difference to the wellbeing of our local community and reinforces our club’s mission and guiding principles. It also helps create a sense of place for both the club and our local community. Over the years, the funds raised from this tournament have allowed numerous clubs and organisations progress with their desired projects: EG: Local Ambulance station has purchased a generator, sports clubs have purchased required sporting equipment and the school, kindergarten and local activity zone have created special places for families and their children to enjoy.

Implementation

This tournament has been made possible with the support of our community and also our membership. Each year our members are happy to allow the use of the club facilities as well as support the day financially. With membership contributions the club is able to offset the full cost of the day (approximately $65,000 a year) which covers the costs of caddies, F&B, prizes and gift bags. The cost of the event is $1,250 per player or $5,000 per team and all funds received from the participants are given to the club or organization which they have identified to support.

Club members are very happy to be able to give back to our local community and build positive relationships with local organisations.
