Staff Engagement Coordinator
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
At Baltimore Country Club, we recognize that our staff members spend a significant amount of time working with us, and their experience is essential to our success in the hospitality industry. Guided by our Simple Truth “Great People Make Favorite Places,” we strive to ensure that BCC is not only a favorite place for our members, but also our staff.
In 2023, we introduced a Staff Engagement Coordinator position to solely focus on staff well-being and retention. The person in this role would be committed to engaging fellow staff members throughout their work week, making them feel valued, appreciated, and excited to come to work every day.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Staff Engagement Coordinator works closely with our Human Resources Team to create various staff-related initiatives, including community volunteer opportunities, staff pulse surveys, monthly pop-up events, and seasonal appreciation events. They also assist with onboarding facilitation and recruitment during the peak summer months. This individual plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive work environment at BCC where our staff members can thrive personally and professionally.
While the Staff Engagement Coordinator role at the Club is still evolving, initial feedback from staff members regarding this position has been overwhelmingly positive. Staff members appreciate the personalized attention and support they receive along with the community engagement activities available. This role has strengthened staff relationships and fostered a sense of community where staff members feel valued.
The Club recognizes that continuous improvement is essential, but the early success of this initiative highlights the importance of investing in staff engagement. By prioritizing the needs and satisfaction of our team, we not only enhance their work experience but also elevate the overall operations and culture.
