Staff Tournament Appreciation
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We have done small things throughout the years during our tournament week to provide some support and encouragement to our team, but this year we really wanted to enhance the employee experience. Our staff has grown substantially in the past several years and this was a great opportunity to solidify our culture with many of our new team members. The management team believes that these efforts truly made a difference in the operation during the week - it was the smoothest, most efficient tournament that we have run in many years. We are excited to share this idea with other Clubs who host large tournaments; regardless of your resources, building this camaraderie and showing appreciation during those tough weeks can be incredibly impactful to your operation and productivity.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Human Resources team and Club Management worked closely together to outline the week and pull everything together; much of the planning was kept under wraps, as we wanted employees at all levels to be surprised. We utilized in house resources, as well as worked with some local vendors. Doing a lot of the organizing, design and setup ourselves, as well as using in house team members like our Recreation management and Fitness professionals, allowed us to stretch our budget further throughout the week. The membership certainly felt the impact of what was going on behind the scenes with the team. We received countless notes and calls echoing the same feedback the management team shared; it was the best tournament we have hosted in years.
