Idea Fair

Stop Shop

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Idea:
Many departments throughout the Club usually get slammed between Thanksgiving and Christmas with people wanting to buy gift cards. Add this to an already busy day for their departments' daily needs, and it adds a lot of stress, often causing a need to bring in extra staff. As a result, we set up a dedicated gift card table in the lobby and advertised the hours and location to members. This allowed members to have a one stop shop to buy all their gift cards with dedicated staff able to just focus on members and their gift card needs.

Enhancement to Club Operations:
The gift card table enhanced Club operations by allowing for the pressure to be taken off the already busy outlets (such as the Fitness Desk, the Tennis Desk, and the Spa Desk). Additionally, it sped up the gift card process as members were able to interact with trained staff who knew about the pricing and services of each Club department, so staff are easily and quickly able to help members get what they need.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Implemented:
The gift card table was implemented by selecting specific days and times for the one stop shop that covered all hours of the day and included weekend hours as well. Supplies (gift cards, bags, tissue paper, etc.) were ordered and staff volunteered to help.

Member Reactions:
Members LOVED this idea. They really enjoyed having a one stop shop to get all their holiday gift cards and appreciated the gift wrapping, so it was truly a "no stress" gift for family and friends. Additionally, it was a huge educational opportunity. There were many members who enjoyed the opportunity to stop and speak with staff about gift card options as they were unaware that the Club offered gift cards.
