Idea Fair
Take Our Kids to Work Day
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We embraced this year’s national theme, inspire 2 aspire, by expanding our program to be more inclusive of older children and offering the option for kids to shadow their parents throughout the day. Children ages 4-17 were invited to join their parents at work anytime between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm. To start the day, we had a come as you please breakfast bites station. Most younger kids enjoyed supervised group activities from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, which included lunch and a snack, creating a fun, day camp-style experience. For our older participants, we added a Club tour, which was a popular addition, and many enjoyed the chance to explore the Club and see their parents at work across departments.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Our children’s program director and employee survey task force took the lead in organizing Take Our Children to Work Day. To support the event, we coordinated with managers to block out the day, creating a less busy schedule and allowing our team to participate fully. Volunteers from the management team, along with our children’s program staff, helped run the supervised activities and group areas. Managers also signed up to speak in time slots for the Club tour. To prepare members, we sent an email in advance informing them that employees’ children would be present in the Club. The response has been positive, with members appreciating our efforts for the team. Both employees and their children enjoyed the day, fostering stronger connections within our Club family.
