Tennis Mentor Program
Description
In the fall of 2019, Woodfield launched its tennis mentor program. The program matches experienced players from our Division 1 team with interested mentees from our Division 4, 5 or 7 teams.
The Division 1 players become mentors to the Division 4, 5 and 7 players by offering personal tips, encouragement, match centric feedback and more. The mentors also share insight into their own challenges with the game, the obstacles they have had to overcome and what has helped them improve their game.
By offering one-on-one support and genuine feedback after matches, our mentors have helped mentees grow their game and feel more established in Woodfield’s tennis program.
Implementation
After launching the program, the mentors regularly organized games with the mentees and offered tips and encouragement while they played. The mentors also attended mentee’s matches and offered feedback following play.
Our mentors have really enjoyed the program and meeting new players. They feel they are making a difference and giving back to the game they love. Our mentees have made strides in developing their game and have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with experienced players. The program has also helped new members integrate into Club life. Off the court, Members who have participated in the program have become friends.
We plan to continue to expand the program and create more opportunities for players from all levels of play to learn, share and grow the game.
