The Gauntlet

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Maintaining and promoting one of the largest swim teams in the country can be tough. We wanted to find a way to promote excitement for the upcoming summer as well as for swim team. Thus, we created the Gauntlet! What is the Gauntlet? The Gauntlet is an 800-pound inflatable obstacle course that floats in the pool. We custom made our own design, using the course as both a promotional tool for Champions Run and a fun way to promote competition throughout the summer. Challengers face off one-on-one, and race through the course. It’s provided our summer programming a one of a kind experience.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

After customizing and ordering the inflatable from overseas, we had some members come to test it out as well as help us shoot a promotional video. No one was told that we purchased this monstrosity, so the kids who got to experience it first were ecstatic! After we posted the video of the gauntlet online, the engagement took off. We had parents and kids constantly asking about it and when they would have the opportunity to try it. In order to let more people have an opportunity, we hosted Saturday morning specials where members could come test the Gauntlet. Every Saturday morning special, we have hundreds of adults and kids lining up to participate. It’s been a hit for the club.
