The Last Best Subscription Box

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

In November 2024, we decided to create a monthly kids' activity subscription box that included a craft, recipe, science project and a bunch of other fun activities. The thought behind ‘The Last Best Box’ is to keep in touch with the membership throughout their time away from the Stock Farm Club. This was especially a great way to keep The Stock Farm Club on the Kid’s minds as the place they want to be in the summertime, which automatically means increased member retention. Each month via the Stock Farm Club website, members have access to all the ‘Grandma Nicole Cooking Class’ videos and 'Advice Worth a Buck' videos from our famous General Manager, Steve Buck. There is also a section where the membership can upload photos, so the kids can keep in touch with their Stock Farm friends as well as the Stock Farm staff!

The ‘Grandma Nicole’ idea was created to bring joy, laughter, and fun to the kids while they are away from the Stock Farm Club. Nicole is, in fact, not a grandma, but oversees the Youth Programs and Kids’ Cooking Classes at the Stock Farm Club during the summer months. The kids have had so much fun with Grandma Nicole teaching them how to cook fun, easy recipes at home with their families.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

In order for this to work, we knew we had to get creative on how to market it. We presented this Subscription Box to the House Committee, and got approval to send out 40 free boxes to the kids of the membership the first month, surprising them with a box addressed to them specifically. We also decided to send it out in November because of the Thanksgiving holiday. A few days after sending this out, we immediately received positive feedback, and had 9 subscription boxes the next month. In the third month of doing this, the interest continues to grow,  jumping to 13 subscription boxes in February. We charge $50/month for a yearly subscription and $60/month for month-to-month subscriptions.

How did we choose which families got the boxes?
We took our Youth Camp data and tracked which members are actively involved within the club. With our entire management team as well as Youth Camp Registration records, we quickly found the 40 names of the children that would receive the boxes.
