The Nutcracker: A Magical Tea Party
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We invited dancers from our local production of THE NUTCRACKER (Blacksburg Ballet) to join us for a very magical tea party!
Nutcrackers adorned each table, and members of all ages enjoyed treats, tea and lemonade, and were delighted as the room suddenly came to life with the glorious music of Tchaikovsky. Magic filled the air as The Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara, and others entered in full costume to dance their way through the room.
Each character performed a solo and then flitted between tables, interacting with the participants and posing for pictures.
Ballet slippers, signed by the cast, were taken home as mementoes.
We are always looking for new, family friendly events, that appeal to all ages. This event attracted young families, older members who just love The Nutcracker, families of the dancers, and members who simply wanted to enjoy some holiday magic.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We were able to welcome a demographic of over 3 generations of our members to the Club for an action-packed afternoon celebrating the season. We had members dressed in costume and so happy to be engaged in different components of the afternoon. Several departments internally collaborated to successfully execute the many moving parts around the entire club property! The team was also excited to create the hybrid instead of having 3 large events all consecutively on the calendar.
