Summer Reading Program: The Who Dunnit Hunt
Description
To encourage reading in the junior members as they dive into their summer break, we will implement "The Who Dunnit Hunt." This game takes some of the themes from the iconic game Clue. In the game, something important to the club’s cultural history is taken, (Tommy Aaron’s, Masters Champion 1973, Golf Clubs). To move along in the mystery and gain clues to come closer to the truth, children must read pre-approved books and meet certain chapter requirements to unlock the next clue. This summer is the first time we are implementing this program but be believe the kids and adults will be very supportive.
Implementation
To insure the children have actually read, when signing up the parents will be given a signoff sheet. The Clues are in the form of (pictures, notes, etc.). Books are pre-approved, and each age group will have a predetermined number of pages that need to be read in order to unlock the next clue. When the game is over the children will gather for a dinner party where they cast their final votes and the thief is revealed. Children can submit guesses after they are given a clue. When the children have a guess for who did it, they will email their guesses to (someone). Each child is allowed one guess per clue received. The First child to correctly guess the thief receives a trophy (golf clubs), and a free slushy every time they visit the pool for the rest of the summer.
