Thinking Outside the Box... and Outside the Clubhouse at ANCC

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Halloween, Brunch with Santa and Family Christmas Dinner are hugely popular member events we hold every Holiday season (drawing a total of 2,500 people to the clubhouse in a typical year). Obviously not possible in 2020 due to COVID 19, we ‘pivoted’ and held all three events outdoors in conjunction with a meal pickup. Halloween’s ‘Safari to the Underworld’ and Santa’s Winter Wonderland were drive thru experiences held in our parking garage while Family Christmas Dinner & Santa Snow Globe photo took place on the lawn outside the clubhouse.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Our Banquet management team organized all three events. For Halloween’s ‘Safari to the Underworld’ they were ‘safari guides’ and for both events with Santa they were a team of elves! Club member’s were overwhelming in their praise for our creativity and ability to ‘pull off’ these types of events safely during a pandemic. Over 3,000 members and their families participated in our different experiences which proved so popular that we held each event on two days/nights to accommodate everyone.
