Idea Fair
This is Me!
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Our Kraken Kares Talent Show is one of the most meaningful events we host each year. It’s a talent show for kids with disabilities, raising $10,000 annually for the Special Olympics. The event features 24 incredible acts performed in a packed theater filled with hundreds of cheering spectators. What makes it truly special is how the whole club comes together—our staff volunteers their time, and members not only attend but also participate as acts and volunteers. It’s a club-wide effort that has become a source of pride for everyone involved.
This event has brought our community closer, showing what we can achieve when we work together for a great cause. It’s not just about the money we raise; it’s about the connections we build and the joy we bring to these kids and their families. Kraken Kares has made philanthropy a bigger part of our culture, giving members and staff a chance to be part of something bigger than themselves. It’s an event that highlights the best of what we stand for as a club.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We rent out a theater and organize the show from top to bottom, with our staff and members stepping up to help make it happen. From coordinating the acts to setting up the space, it’s a true team effort.
The reactions have been incredible. Members love being part of an event that’s so uplifting and meaningful. The kids’ performances are amazing and inspiring, and seeing the joy on their faces is something that stays with you. Many members have told us this is their favorite event of the year, and it’s become something we all look forward to, knowing we’re making a real difference together.
