Idea Fair
Tilden’s Manhattan
Description
The National Arts Club is a National Historic Landmark and has made a home in the Samula J. Tilden mansion since 1906. Glass master Donald MacDonald fashioned a unique stained glass dome for Tilden’s library that crowns the room where the historic bar is now located.
As an homage to Samuel J. Tilden and to one of our most popular cocktails, our food and beverage team has re-envisioned “Tilden’s Manhattan.” Members and their guests immediately took to the new creation and it continues to be our most popular beverage. The idea of re-envisioning the cocktail and how it is mixed and aged (in wood barrels) has greatly enhanced our operations while also providing quality, consistency, and the highest level of service.
Implementation
The idea was implemented and enhanced by aging the newly envisioned Tilden's Manhattan in oak barrels for at least seven days. While always using the same recipe, we are sure to always provide our members with the perfect, consistent cocktail they enjoy and love. Needless to say, this has been a tremendously successful concept and due to the overwhelmingly positive member feedback, we are currenyly expanding the idea to include other classic cocktails like the Negroni.
