Time & Talents in Play

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

When a volunteer opportunity arises that so easily matches the time and talents of our club members and staff, saying yes is easy AND rewarding. Sportable, a local non-profit, hosted the River City Slam - a USTA Level 1/ITF Futures event - that attracted nationally-ranked wheelchair tennis players this past June. Volunteers were needed to assist as ball runners and court monitors for match play.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

In total, 12 members of the Racquet Sports Committee and Racquet Sports Advisory Committees, along with CCV staff, volunteered for the day. It was truly a event where the CCV team got more out of the experience than we expected as we provided help while witnessing top-class competition first-hand.
