Total Solar Eclipse

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Belle Meade Country Club was in the path of totality for the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. BMCC hosted a garden party with themed food and beverages including Sunchips, MoonPies, Milky Way Cheesecake and homemade Rocket Fuel punch. Sous Chef Astrid Morente-Garcia never misses an opportunity to wow members with her inspired food carvings. We provided a giant backyard and relaxed atmosphere where members felt comfortable and had all of their closest friends and family gathered. We provided solar glasses and themed food and beverage, while mother nature provided the entertainment. Togetherness and ease were keys to this successful event.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

August 21, 2017 fell on a Monday, when our Club is generally closed. Club management made the decision to open for this once in a lifetime occasion and throw a small garden party where we anticipated 50-100 attendees. We were humbled that within days of advertising we were at full capacity with 500 people and had started a waitlist. Members are still talking about what a great time they had at this simple club event.
