Idea Fair

Touch-a-Truck Day

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

The Touch-A-Truck event was successful because of the many community service individuals that came out to support our event. This event provided members an opportunity to connect with the individuals who operate the vehicles they often see around the community helping people, fixing things, and keeping us safe. Community engagement, in any capacity, fosters mutual respect and understanding between communities and their service members, builds trust and collaboration, promotes civic engagement, and strengthens community bonds.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

Touch-A-Truck Day was implemented through thorough planning; mapping parking spaces and arrival timing to ensure there was plenty of space for trucks, their operators, and members to walk around the space and enjoy the event. The event was initially intended for children, though feedback told us that this event was equally (if not more) enjoyable for the parents as it was for the children.
