Idea Fair
Traditional Events - Start Early
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
CCV is steeped in legacy members with the goal of continuing to provide opportunities for creating lifelong traditions. We created junior versions of our most popular tournaments to set a foundation for the next generation of golfers.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
CCV has a strong tradition of member golf events – a handful of tournaments that people have played in their entire adult lives. Most of these events have people marking the registration dates in their calendars in January so they won’t miss out. We decided – why not start those traditions even earlier with junior versions of these tournaments?
This year, we hosted a junior two-day member/member/member/guest (Junior Wolfest), a one-day member/guest, and an end-of-the-year Ryder Cup-style event (Hambone Cup) for point winners throughout the season… all versions of our most popular adult events.
The juniors had the best time… and the only thing that was missing was the adult beverages. They received favors with the tournament logo, attended special lunches/dinners – all similar to the adult events. These tournaments were in addition to the regular junior events and the kids loved being able to compare their events to the ones their parents played in.
