Idea Fair
Transition Tennis Classes
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Youth tennis players often have trouble changing from one level to another (for example, red ball to orange ball). Moving up a level can be hard - it means bigger racquets, a larger court, and smaller tennis balls. We noticed this was discouraging to many of our youth tennis players when they started the next level class. To help them move up with ease and make them more comfortable, we created a transition tennis class.
This class, offered between levels, incorporates some elements of the lower level and elements of the new, higher level (for example, red balls or a modified orange ball court).
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We began these classes to help our youth tennis players transition better from one level to another. Our members say the transition classes allow their children to move to the next level while holding on to a few things they are comfortable with, build confidence, and avoid discouragement.
